STATE LINE, Miss. (WKRG) — Greene County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man Thursday in connection with the New Year’s Day triple homicide in State Line.
Drexler Johnson, 37, was arrested in State Line and charged with one count of accessory after the fact. Johnson allegedly helped the gunman, according to the sheriff.
On Jan. 1, store clerk Rhonda Denson, her boyfriend Lester Campbell, and customer Jason Thornton were killed at the Clark’s Exxon gas station on Saint Peter Street.
Officials previously said Campbell was gunned down as he was entering the store, while Thornton was shot outside the store and his wallet was stolen.
Denson locked herself in a back room to get away, but the suspect broke through the door, grabbed her, and dragged her to the front of the store, demanding cash from the register, according to officials.
After giving the suspect cash, the suspect shot and killed Denson.
The shooter has not been caught.
