PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Pearl police arrested a man after a chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle crashed into a semi-trailer, authorities said.
Pearl Police Chief Nick McLendon said an officer attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 20 East for a traffic violation just after noon on Friday, January 10. McLendon said the driver, DeMarcus Townsend, of Brandon, fled from the traffic stop and continued on I-20 East into Brandon.
According to the police chief, an officer conducted a tactical vehicle intervention, which caused Townsend’s vehicle to crash into the rear of a semi-trailer. No injuries were reported. McLendon said Townsend was arrested and was found to be in possession of narcotics and a firearm.

Townsend has been charged with felony fleeing, possession of a controlled substance and multiple traffic offenses.
