JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Court of Appeals affirmed the sentencing of a man who was convicted in connection to a 2016 armed robbery and armed carjacking in Hinds County.
According to court documents, Dameion Stewart, who’s also known as Dameon Stewart, appealed his conviction after his post-trial motions were denied.
Stewart was sentenced to 20 years in custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) in March 2023.
Hinds County District Attorney Jody E. Owens II said Stewart approached the driver of a 2017 Toyota Corolla as she parked at her home on Wichita Drive in December 2016. Stewart ordered the driver and passengers out of the car at gunpoint. He then robbed the victims of their personal belongings and left with the car.

According to MDOC’s website, Stewart is being held at the Kemper/Neshoba County Regional Correctional Facility.
