RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies arrested a Georgia woman after they discovered 18 packages of suspected cocaine in a vehicle.
According to Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy observed a silver Chrysler 200 on January 15 failing to maintain its lane of travel on Interstate 20 eastbound near the 66-mile marker.
The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Amely Dominguez, 24, of Georgia. While speaking with her, Burnell said the deputy became suspicious that she was involved in criminal activity. He stated the deputy received consent to search the vehicle.
During the search, Burnell said the deputy observed aftermarket modifications to the bumpers. The vehicle and Dominguez were relocated to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office Impound Lot & Maintenance Facility.
After arriving at the location, Burnell said deputies inspected the vehicle and discovered 18 packages of suspected cocaine in aftermarket compartments that were located in the front and rear bumpers.
Dominguez was arrested and charged with trafficking a controlled substance. She was transported to the Rankin County Detention Center.
