JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Several locations are providing a place for those in need of warmth and shelter as another round of winter weather approaches Mississippi.
Gateway Rescue Mission opened its doors at noon on Sunday, January 19. The shelter will remain operational 24/7 during the extremely cold weather.
Robert Lott, the shelter manager, said they’re accepting donations from the community.
“We’ll be operational until the end of the cold weather where we have having a day time for him to come here during the day. Stay warm, and then we’ll have them coming in at night to stay at night. Blankets, jackets, socks or any type of warm clothing that will be good, so that we can give them to the transit in the program,” he said.
Other locations providing similar services include Champion Gym and the Stewpot Opportunity Center.
