Officials with JXN Water said they’ve implemented measures to winterize their facilities, including water treatment plants, during the freezing temperatures this week.
JXN Water offered some tips for neighbors in the capital city:
- Remove outdoor hoses: Disconnect hoses from outdoor faucets to prevent freezing.
- Insulate outdoor connections: Wrap outdoor hose connections with towels or insulation to protect against the cold.
- Allow warm air to reach indoor pipes: Turn up your heat slightly above normal and open cabinet doors, especially under sinks, to keep pipes warm.
- Winterize irrigation systems: Turn off water to irrigation systems and ensure they are drained.
- Protect unheated spaces: Turn off water and drain lines in unheated areas or buildings.
