MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Sumner man pled guilty to one count of trafficking stolen firearms in Madison County.

Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Bubba Bramlett said Kyler Seamster, 29, was sentenced to serve 15 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). According to Bramlett, Seamster is a non-violent habitual offender which requires him to serve the 15 years day for day without the possibility of parole.

On April 13, 2024, Gluckstadt police stopped a car for improper equipment. During the traffic stop, officers discovered that the car was also involved in recent auto burglaries in the Bear Creek subdivision.

Police said they saw marijuana roaches in the ashtray and smelled marijuana coming from Seamster and the car. They searched the vehicle and discovered three firearms, which had been reported as stolen. Police said they also found the clothing and a backpack that could bee seen on neighborhood surveillance tapes.

Bramlett said Seamster had previously been convicted of house burglary and grand larceny, which made him a habitual offender and ineligible for parole.
