MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Three teenagers were arrested after a chase in Madison County, police said.
Investigators said a Madison police officer was patrolling Interstate 55 around 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 24 and spotted a black 2019 Kia Soul that had been reported stolen in Jackson on Thursday, January 23.
The officer attempted to stop the vehicle around the 109-mile marker, but investigators said the vehicle continued south on I-55 in an attempt to flee. They said the vehicle exited the interstate at the 107-mile marker where another Madison officer deployed spike strips.
The suspects’ vehicle came to a rest at the intersection of West Frontage Road and Colony Park in Ridgeland city limits. Three suspects got out of the vehicle and ran from police. However, the suspects were arrested without incident with assistance from Ridgeland police and Rankin County deputies.
Madison police said the driver was identified as a 14-year-old from Canton. He is being charged with felony fleeing, felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
The two passengers, a 16-year-old and a 14-year-old, both from Canton, were charged with felony receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Police said the suspects were transported to the Warren County Youth Detention Center where their cases will be presented to Madison County Youth Court.
