QUITMAN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Quitman County coroner and his aunt have been arrested by special agents from the State Auditor’s Office.
State Auditor Shad White said Randy Hester and his aunt, Brenda Pittman, submitted fraudulent invoices to Quitman County under the disguise of a fictitious business name for services he did not provide.
According to White, Hester and Pittman opened a bank account under a fictitious business they created called MFC Transit. He said Bank records listed Hester’s personal address as the business address for the account. Hester allegedly submitted invoices for the transportation of bodies using MFC Transit, and he allegedly charged the county for transporting bodies that were transported by other funeral homes.
Hester faces up to $10,000 in fines and up to 10 years in prison if convicted. Pittman faces up to five years in prison if convicted.
