JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Thalia Mara Hall remains closed, and the City of Jackson is working on the repairs necessary to reopen the venue.

The facility closed in August 2024 after mold and other safety issues were discovered.

Last week, the State Fire Marshal’s Office deemed Thalia Mara Hall unfit for reopening. The issues included the fire alarm system showing trouble.

“The most recent report, some of the things that were noted, we are gathering the maintenance and service reports for the elevator and the escalator, who might I note, are both working at this moment in time. We merely just have to get the maintenance service in the service and maintenance reports for those things. We’re also setting up a time for our fire system to be tested by a company by the company that services it,” said Jackson Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba.

There is no exact date on when Thalia Mara Hall will reopen.
