VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – A man was arrested in connection to a stabbing in Vicksburg.

Police said the incident occurred in the 1400 block of Clay Street on Saturday, February 15. A 69-year-old man had been stabbed in his chest area.

Investigators said a witness identified the suspect as Patrick Smith, 49. He was later arrested for aggravated assault in connection to the incident.

Police said the victim was transported to Merit Health River Region and was later transferred to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson. He is in stable condition.
