JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities are investigating after an 18-year-old was killed during a shooting in Jackson.
The shooting occurred on James Hill Street on Monday, February 17.
Interim Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard said the victim, Adajha Ellis, 18, of Jackson, was taken to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) by a private vehicle around 9:00 a.m. She had multiple gunshot wounds.
Howard said Ellis died at the hospital. Her body will be taken to the Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy.

Detective Tommie Brown, with the Jackson Police Department (JPD), said officers arrested Jeremy Murphy in connection to the case. He has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence.
