JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – An eyesore along Interstate 55 in Jackson will soon be gone.

The Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) said the demolition for Hotel O will begin on February 24, 2025.

According to MDEQ, the agency’s received a notification on Tuesday, February 18 through the Asbestos & Lead Branch that said, “it appears that the scope of the activity has been adequately outlined.”

Hotel O has caused major issues for businesses and residents in the area, city leaders said. They said it’s become a hub for illegal activity.
