PEARL, Miss. (WJTV) – Severe weather is expected to impact Central Mississippi on Tuesday.

Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) are urging residents to take precautions.

“The National Weather Service is forecasting that we could see some strong storms tomorrow. There could be some tornadoes. There could be some very strong winds. There could be some hail,” said Eric Bullard, interim MEMA director of External Affairs. “We don’t know for sure if there will be power outages tomorrow, but if there are straight, straight line winds or some strong tornadoes, there will be trees down and those will cause some power outages. “

Residents can monitor the Storm Team 12 forecast and identify a safe place in case of a tornado warning.

MEMA and the National Weather Service (NWS) will also track the system and provide updates.
