3 killed, 6 injured during severe storms in Mississippi

MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Three people were killed when severe storms moved through Mississippi on Tuesday, March 4.

Officials with the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) said one death occurred in Clarke County and two deaths occurred in Madison County. Four injuries were reported in Wayne County, and two injuries were reported in Madison County.

As of 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5, there were 6,500 reported power outages across the state, which is down from more than 38,000 on Tuesday.

The following counties have reported they have received storm damage:

  • Madison
  • Perry
  • Warren
  • Wayne 

MEMA encourages residents who’ve sustained damage from this severe weather event to do the following:

  • File an insurance claim.
  • Take photos of the damage to the home.
  • Report damage to county/MEMA via the self-report tool.
