JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Jackson community honored the late Corporal Christopher Gallion, Sr., with a balloon release on Thursday, March 13.

“My brother was a giant of a man. So many things I think about when I think about my brother. He was a loving man. He was a loving father. He was a mentor. He was a God-fearing man. There’s so many things I could say, but when I think of him, I just think of my brother. You know, he had so many roles in the City of Jackson,” said Piedrro Gallion, his brother.

Gallion, 39, dedicated 17 years of service to the Jackson Police Department (JPD). He was a graduate of Jim Hill High School and the “Mighty 43rd” Recruit Class.

He died on March 6, 2025, in Jackson after experiencing a medical emergency.

“He had a tremendous impact on me personally. He actually, when I became an officer in this department, he was one of my training officers. So, he trained me to be the officer that I am today. And I can only thank him for the hard work and the time that he put into helping me become an officer I am and help train the future of this department,” said Precinct 1 Captain William Kendrick.

Gallion is survived by his wife and four sons.
