Three children ejected in Jones County rollover crash

JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – Three children were ejected from a vehicle during a rollover crash in Jones County.

The crash occurred on Springhill Road in the Calhoun community on Thursday, March 20.

Jones County deputies said a 2005 Infiniti QX56 SUV left the roadway and flipped multiple times before coming to rest on its side.

Investigators said three female children, ages 3, 6, and 8, were ejected from the vehicle. They suffered serious to critical injuries. According to deputies, one child was initially trapped under the vehicle.

An adult male driver and an adult female passenger were also injured. They’re believed to be husband and wife.

Deputies said the five victims were transported to South Central Regional Medical Center (SCRMC) in Laurel for treatment. The 8-year-old girl was later airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson. The 3-year-old and the 6-year-old were also later transported to UMMC by ambulance. Both adults were treated at SCRMC for their injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Jones County Sheriff’s Department.
