Driver dies after two 18-wheelers crash on I-55 in Hinds County

UPDATE:

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – An 18-wheeler driver died during a crash with another 18-wheeler on Interstate 55 in Hinds County.

Officials with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) said the crash occurred on I-55 North near the 83-mile marker around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

Troopers said a 1999 Peterbilt was traveling northbound when it collided with a 2023 International MV60 that was also traveling northbound on I-55.

According to MHP, the driver of the International MV60, Reggie McNeal, 50, of Brandon, received fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased on the scene.

The driver of the Peterbilt was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, with unknown injuries.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.


HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities blocked all lanes on Interstate 55 North between Byram and Terry after two 18-wheelers were involved in a crash.

The crash occurred on I-55 North past the Wynndale Road exit around 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 8.

Byram Police Chief David Errington said injuries have been reported. He said the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) is leading the investigation.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
