JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Leaders with the City of Jackson are confident Thalia Mara Hall will reopen.

There are still a number of projects that need to be completed. Jackson City Councilman Ashby Foote, Ward 1, said the city is working with the State Fire Marshal to make sure Thalia Mara Hall is in compliance.

“We’ve got a number of steps that we’re closer to coming to that require the okay from the State Fire Marshal and other regulators that are involved to make sure that everything is a go for them at Thalia Mara Hall,” he said.

Thalia Mara Hall closed in August 2024 after mold and other safety issues were discovered.

Foote said there’s no exact timeline on when the facility will reopen, but he is hopeful it will occur within the next two months.
