CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Tim Taylor won the Democratic municipal primary runoff in the Canton mayoral race.

The unofficial results showed he defeated Comelia Walker in the race on Tuesday, April 22.

Taylor said the victory comes in part because of the relationship that was built among voters.

“We built a coalition in the City of Canton between Black voters and white voters and Hispanic voters. We also went after Independents and Republicans. And because of our hard work and our due diligence and our resilience and our relentlessness, we are victors tonight,” he stated.

Taylor will advance to the Municipal General Election on June 3, 2025.
