Pike County homicide suspect arrested in Texas

PIKE COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The man who was wanted in connection to a Pike County homicide was arrested in Texas.

According to authorities, Anthony Butler, Jr., turned himself into police in Arlington, Texas, on Tuesday, May 20. He will be extradited back to Pike County.

The shooting occurred at the Hillside Club on Summit Holmesville Road.

On May 18, Pike County detectives said they discovered that Laterrica Carr assisted in hiding the murder weapon and facilitated Butler’s escape from the county. Carr was arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

In collaboration with Ridgeland police and the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force, detectives executed a search warrant at the home of Butler’s grandmother on May 19. They said additional evidence was collected.

Pike County deputies said they recovered the firearm believed to be used in the murder. Ballistics testing will be conducted by forensic scientists at the Mississippi Crime Lab.

Deputies are searching for Billy Dee Carr, 43, of McComb, in connection to the case. He is wanted for accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.
