YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WJTV) – A three-year-old has been hospitalized after being shot in the head in Yazoo City.

Yazoo City Police Chief Terry Gann said officers received a call from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Yazoo around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 14 about the shooting. The victim was transported to a Jackson hospital and is on life-support.

The shooting occurred on Barnwell Street in Yazoo County. The police chief said a weapon of interest was recovered.

According to Gann, investigators are working with Child Protective Services (CPS) and are working to determine if the child shot himself.
