JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – For those looking for fun and family-friendly events with fireworks to celebrate Independence Day, you do not have to leave the Jackson metro area.
Below are some of the events that you can check out before July 4th and during the upcoming holiday weekend.
Mississippi Championship Hot Air Balloon Festival – Canton and Ridgeland – June 27-29
- The 40th annual festival will feature hot air balloons, a fireworks extravaganza, food and entertainment. Events will happen across both cities. The Celebrate America Balloon Glow kicks off the weekend’s festivities. Admission to the Canton Multipurpose Center Balloon Field is free. Events on Saturday begin at 6:15 a.m. and end with a fireworks show at 9:00 p.m.
Patriotic Parade Celebration – Richland – June 28
- The city will orchestrate an Independence Day parade through the city’s Town Square on Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m. After it ends, attendees can enjoy food trucks, water slides, music and a dunking booth until 2:00 p.m. Scooters, bikes, golf carts, wagons, strollers and even leashed pets are allowed.
REZLife Independence Celebration – The Reservoir – June 28
- There will be a dual fireworks show and music at Old Trace Park in Ridgeland and Bobby Cleveland Park at Lakeshore on the Rankin County side. Each park will have kid zones, food trucks, and beverages. The event is free to the public; it starts at 5:00 p.m. The fireworks show begins at 9:00 p.m.
Four Seasons of the Arts Patriotic Concert – Vicksburg – June 29
- The city is set to host its annual concert featuring the Vicksburg Orchestral Society and the Vicksburg Chamber Choir. The Free event is set to occur at First Baptist Church on 1607 Cherry Street in Vicksburg at 3:00 p.m. Sunday. Donations are encouraged.
Jackson’s Fireworks Extravaganza – Jackson – July 3
- The event held at Smith-Wills Stadium off Lakeland Drive will feature a kids zone, food vendors and live entertainment. The night will end with fireworks. The event begins at 5:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m. Admission is $2 per person, with ages six and under getting in for free.
Freedom Fest – Brandon – July 3
- The event at the Brandon Amphitheater serves as a free event to begin Independence Day celebrations. It features inflatables for children, a cornhole tournament, face painting, food trucks and more. The two big elements of the event are a patriotic concert and its fireworks show. The festival starts at 6:00 p.m.
Fourth Fest – Glukstadt – July 4
- The town is set to host an inaugural July 4th celebration. The event, slated from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., is a family-friendly event with music, food, fun for the kids and community spirit. The festivities will happen on Calhoun Station Parkway.
Freedom Fest – Yazoo City – July 4
- Yazoo City is set to host this Independence Day event for a second year. The free event at Wardell Leach Park is the second one for the city. Independence Day. The day-long event set to start at 11:00 a.m. features a musical festival, as well as a clothing and grocery giveaway. Inspired Heights Ministries oversees the event.
Red, White & Blue Fest – Clinton – July 4
- The 35th annual celebration returns with a vengeance for 2025. Jarekus Singleton and Keyrus A.T.G. will headline this year’s event. Gates open at 4:30 p.m., and the fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. The celebration at Traceway Park is free to the public. On-site parking is $10 per car.
Fourth of July in Vicksburg – Vicksburg – July 4
- The city boasts the longest fireworks show in Mississippi, but since the city also celebrates its bicentennial in 2025, city leaders are shooting for an even larger show. The event in downtown Vicksburg is set to start at 7:00 p.m., and its fireworks show is anticipated to launch into the night sky starting at 9:00 p.m.
Mississippi Mud Monsters Fireworks Show – Pearl – July 4 and 5
- Mississippi’s newest professional baseball team will play against the Washington Wild Things in three games over the July 4th weekend. After the games on Friday and Saturday night end, the Mud Monsters will host a fireworks show for each. Friday’s game starts at 6:30 p.m.; the games on Saturday and Sunday start at 6:00 p.m.
