JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The woman accused of stabbing a man to death at a Jackson McDonald’s will undergo a mental evaluation.

Destiny Gibson, 22, appeared in court on July 8 after the State Hospital required an additional order to evaluate her. With a mental evaluation, Gibson waived her right to a preliminary hearing. Her attorney said they waited months to get a second order from the judge.

“Right now, we’re still trying to get her evaluated by the State Hospital. But Judge McDaniels had done an order back in January of 2025, and the State Hospital asked for an additional order. And so, today was about getting that additional order signed by Judge McDaniels,” said Malcolm Harrison, Gibson’s attorney.

Jackson police said Gibson stabbed 22-year-old Christopher Borras at the McDonald’s on Northside Drive in October 2024.

Her bond remains at $2 million. The case will be presented to the Hinds County Grand Jury.
