CANTON, Miss. (WJTV) – The superintendent of the Canton Public School District has accepted a new job.

Superintendent Gary Hannah said he’s accepted the position of chief of staff for the Memphis-Shelby County Schools.

As I reflect on my tenure as Superintendent of Canton Public Schools, I find myself filled with a mixture of gratitude and nostalgia. My time here has come to a heartfelt conclusion, and I want to take a moment to express how deeply I appreciate each one of you. Your unwavering dedication to our scholars and the entire CPSD community has been nothing short of inspiring.
There are so many thoughts and emotions swirling within me, yet I find it challenging to articulate them all at this moment. The memories we’ve created together—filled with triumphs and challenges—will forever hold a special place in my heart. I will genuinely miss the camaraderie, the collaborations, and the laughter we’ve shared.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your hard work and commitment. I would also like to thank the CPSD Board of Trustees, stakeholders, and the Canton community for their support. You have all contributed to making this school district a nurturing environment for our students, and for that, I am eternally grateful. Wishing you all the very best as you continue to make a positive impact on the lives of our scholars!
