JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police arrested an 18-year-old and are searching for at least four more suspects in connection to a shootout.
The shooting occurred in the Brookhollow neighborhood around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade said the shootout involved two groups and spanned several blocks in the neighborhood. Multiple cars and homes were damaged by assault rifles and handguns. No injuries were reported.
Wade said Linden Ford, 18, was arrested in connection to the case. Ford was charged with one count of shooting into an occupied dwelling. Officers are searching for at least four persons of interest in the case. A warrant was issued for Quinmarion Crisler, 20. Police said Jamaal Henderson, 39, is a person of interest in the case.
According to the police chief, two guns and drugs were recovered during the investigation.
Investigators believe the shootout occurred due to an ongoing issue that could be drug-related. Wade said officers are searching for a dark-colored Jeep in connection to the case.
According to the police chief, there will be an increased police presence in the neighborhood.
