JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Capitol police are working on a more efficient 911 system aimed at cutting emergency response delays.
Calls are currently routed through Jackson police before reaching Capitol police. Capitol Police Chief Bo Luckey said the goal is to send 911 calls directly to their dispatch center, improving response times and reducing confusion during emergencies.
“Instead of having been rerouted through multiple agencies, they’ll come directly to us. And at that point, our call for service will be answered in an average of four to seven minutes,” Luckey said.
The system is still in progress, but Luckey hopes to fully implement it soon.
