POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WHLT) – Pearl River County deputies said a woman and two inmates were charged in connection to a contraband case.

On July 8, a deputy observed a white car pull up to the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Highway 11 and Highway 26 in Poplarville. Investigators said a woman got out of the vehicle and placed a bag in the storage shed behind the EOC building.

The deputy recorded the tag number of the vehicle, which left the scene. According to investigators, the deputy found a new cellphone in the bag, as well as plastic bottles believed to contain alcohol.

Authorities said State Trustee inmates are often working around the EOC, and they believe the contraband was dropped off for an inmate.

Through an investigation, the woman was identified as Brandi Jarrell, 45, of Seminary. She was arrested for furnishing contraband to an inmate.

Investigators identified the inmate as Justin Bond, 36. He was arrested for conspiring to introduce contraband into a correctional facility.

In another incident stemming from this investigation, authorities found inmate Don Collins, 35, in possession of an internet device. He was charged with possession of contraband.

Jarrell, Bond and Collins were booked at the Pearl River County Criminal Justice Facility. The two inmates will be sent to the Mississippi State Penitentiary.
