BRANDON, Miss. (WJTV) – Brandon police announced three teenagers were arrested in connection to a burglary and aggravated assault.

Brandon Police Chief Joseph French said officers responded to a call on July 11 at a home on West Sunset Drive. He said the suspects unlawfully entered a home and assaulted a family member of the victim.

The police chief said the suspects, who were identified as Nictrayvion Spann, 16, and Cedric O’Neil, 16, forcibly entered a home while wearing masks and attempted to access a bedroom where they believed a firearm was stored. They were accompanied by an unidentified 15-year-old.

French said a family member arrived at the scene and was physically assaulted by two of the suspects.

On July 15, the three suspects were located and arrested at a home in Claiborne County. French said a search warrant of the home revealed multiple firearms, including a drop-in trigger “switch” designed to make a weapon capable of fully automatic fire.

The three suspects were booked at the Brandon Police Department on the following charges:

  • Nictrayvion Charon Spann – Burglary of a Dwelling, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Cedric Angelethy O’Neil – Burglary of a Dwelling, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Juvenile male – Burglary of a Dwelling

French said Spann and O’Neil also face charges in unrelated metro area crimes: Spann for auto theft and O’Neil for failure to register as a sex offender.

The bonds on the Brandon charges for Spann and O’Neil were set at $500,000 each. They were both transported to the Rankin County Jail.

The juvenile suspect was transported to the Rankin County Juvenile Detention Center and will appear before a judge in Rankin County Youth Court.
