UPDATE:
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – A federal judge has revoked the bond for Rudy Warnock after authorities said he tried to kill himself.
The court determined that Warnock “poses a risk of flight and poses a risk of danger to others and to the community.”
The judge ordered Warnock’s bond to be revoked and ordered him to be detained immediately. The court documents stated, “Although the Court is revoking Warnock’s bond without a hearing, defense counsel reserves the right to request a hearing on detention at a later date.”
Warnock is being held at the Forrest County Jail, according to the jail’s website. The court also ordered Warnock to undergo a mental health evaluation.
JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The U.S. Attorney’s Office has filed a motion to revoke Rudy Warnock’s bond after authorities said he tried to kill himself.
According to court documents, prosecutors said Warnock “poses a risk of flight and poses a risk of danger to others and to the community.” They requested an immediate hearing on the motion.
This comes after authorities said the former Madison County engineer tried to kill himself after being found guilty during a federal bribery trial.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies received a call just before 3:30 p.m. on July 16 about a crash involving a gray Ford F-150 on Interstate 20 East near mile-marker 72.
The man inside the truck was identified as Warnock. Investigators said he was initially unconscious, and a Good Samaritan helped get him out of the vehicle.
According to investigators, Warnock was found to have made cuts to his wrists and neck. He regained consciousness before being transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC).
The incident is under investigation by the Pelahatchie Police Department.
According to court documents, Warnock was found guilty on multiple counts of bribery and wire fraud on July 16. His co-defendant, Cleveland Anderson, was found guilty on two counts.
Warnock was charged with bribery and wire fraud that occurred during his time at Canton Municipal Utilities (CMU) after he was fired by Madison County. He worked at CMU from 2016 to 2017.
He was indicted by a federal grand jury in December 2021 on two counts of conspiracy to commit bribery, one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and one count of wire fraud. The indictment was unsealed in November 2022.
