JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – In less than two weeks, the Jackson Public School District (JPS) will welcome back students for the start of a new school year.

On Friday, volunteers with Entergy Nuclear helped spruce up some schools in order to help educators get ready for the return of students. The company also donated $20,000 to North Jackson Elementary for learning projects, supplies and resources.

“Teachers work so very, very hard. But with Entergy helping us this way every year, it takes one less worry away from our teachers,” said Jocelyn Smith, principal at North Jackson Elementary.

The volunteers said these events help better their communities and the people who live in them.
