Man sentenced for fatal shooting at Hinds County horse barn

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – A Hinds County man was found guilty in connection to the shooting death of another man in Terry.

According to the Hinds County District Attorney’s Office, Michael Harvey, Jr., was found guilty of first-degree murder.

On July 2, 2022, Hinds County deputies responded to a shooting at a horse barn on Wynndale Road in Terry. Investigators said Harvey and Brandon Nix, 27, were involved in an argument that escalated to a shooting. According to deputies, Nix was shot twice and died at the scene.

Harvey was sentenced to life in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) without the possibility of parole.
