Rankin County deputy injured in crash discharged from rehab center

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – The Rankin County deputy who was injured during a crash has been discharged from a rehabilitation center.

Officials with Methodist Rehabilitation Center held a send off for Rankin County Deputy Jalan Parker after he was discharged.

The crash that injured Parker occurred on Highway 468 near Greenfield Circle around 4:00 a.m. on July 25.

Investigator Tyler Burnell, with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, said Parker had his emergency lights and sirens activated while responded to the call. He said the preliminary reports showed that another vehicle entered the highway from Greenfield Circle in front of Parker.

Parker and the other driver, who was identified as 38-year-old Uguster Jones, of Brandon, were transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) in Jackson.
