HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Hinds County supervisors are searching for a new Public Works director.
According to Hinds County Supervisor Robert Graham, District 1, Dexter Shelby stepped down.
Supervisor Bobby “Bobcat” McGowan, District 5, said Shelby was the fourth person to serve in the role in the last two years. With the position unexpectedly empty, it will make it hard for the county to complete projects.
“The board as a whole needs to leave our Public Works director along and let him do his job. They try to micromanage him as a whole,” said McGowan.
Graham said the supervisors hope to fill the role in the next two weeks.
