Rankin County deputies search for livestock shooting suspect

RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Rankin County deputies are searching for a suspect in connection to a livestock shooting.

The shooting occurred on Highway 469 near East Mountain Creek Road just before 7:30 p.m. on August 18, 2025.

Investigator Tyler Burnell said deputies were notified by a cattle farmer about the shooting. The suspect was driving a white Ford F-250, four-door, diesel pickup truck with a loud exhaust.

After the shooting occurred, Burnell said the suspect apparently returned to the area then fled south on Highway 469 toward Simpson County.
