HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WHLT) – A man who was wanted for a homicide in Hattiesburg was arrested in Massachusetts.

On September 1, 2025, Palmer police and Hampden County deputies initiated a traffic stop on S. Main Street in Palmer around 9:30 p.m. for a stop sign violation.

Police said the driver, who was identified as George Mabrey, had a warrant from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The warrant was for homicide/manslaughter by motor vehicle (two counts).

According to police, Mabrey was arrested without incident and was held on no bond. He will be arraigned as a fugitive from justice at the Palmer District Court on September 2, 2025, and the extradition process will commence.
