Shooting on Beechcrest Drive leaves one dead in Jackson

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police are investigating after one person was killed during a shooting.

Interim Jackson Police Chief and Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said the shooting occurred in the 300 block of Beechcrest Drive on September 22, 2025. Jones said the victim, 43-year-old Brian Drake, was shot at least once and died at the scene.

According to the interim police chief, a male suspect was detained away from the scene for questioning. The suspect was identified as Morris Walker, 43. He was charged with murder.
