VICKSBURG, Miss. (WJTV) – Vicksburg police announced the cause of death for the man who was found hanging from a tree has been released.

The incident occurred in a wooded area in the 4100 block of Washington Street in Vicksburg. Police said they responded to the wooded area near the Ameristar Casino on September 15, 2025.

Police said 35-year-old Cory Zukatis, of Brandon, was found hanging from a tree. According to the Warren County coroner, Zukatis was homeless. His body was transported to the Mississippi State Crime Lab for an autopsy.

According to the Medical Examiner, Zukatis’ death was ruled as a suicide.
