Fatal Hinds County crash involves two 18-wheelers, SUV

HINDS COUNTY, Miss. (WJTV) – Authorities are investigating a fatal crash involving two 18-wheelers and an SUV in Hinds County.

According to interim Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard, the crash occurred on Interstate 20 west at mile marker 23 between Bolton and Edwards on October 3, 2025. At least one person died.

According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP), the driver of the SUV, 31-year-old Elizabeth Hope Nelson, of Vicksburg, died at the scene.

Troopers said one of the 18-wheelers collided with Nelson’s vehicle and then collided with another 18-wheelers. The crash remains under investigation by MHP.
