Third victim dies after shooting at Heidelberg High homecoming game

JASPER COUNTY, Miss. (WHLT) – A third person has died in connection to the fatal shooting at Heidelberg High School’s homecoming game on October 10, 2025.

Heidelberg police said the victims were identified as Christopher Newell, Mikea McCray and Cayus Stevens. Police said Stevens died from a non-gun-related injury.

“We are heartbroken by this loss and extend our deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims. Please keep these families in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this devastating time,” said Heidelberg Police Chief Cornell White.

Police said the following suspects were arrested and charged in connection to the shooting:

  • Tylar Goodloe, 18 – Charged with two counts of capital murder and possession of a deadly weapon on an educational property
  • Jabari Collins, 19 – Charged with possession of a deadly weapon on an educational property
  • Jadarius Page, 19 – Charged with accessory after the fact
  • Damarin Starks, 19 – Charged with accessory after the fact and tampering with physical evidence

Authorities said starks requested a preliminary hearing. A date has not been set. Collins and Page were both given a $25,000 bond.

Bailey Martin, spokesperson for the Mississippi Department of Public Safety (MDPS), said the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) is assisting in the investigation.

Officials with the West Jasper School District announced the upcoming football game scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Heidelberg High School was canceled due to ongoing safety concerns following the fatal shooting.
