CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – A natural gas leak led to evacuations at Mississippi College (MC) in Clinton.
According to officials, Alumni Hall and the Baptist Healthplex were evacuated on October 23, 2025, due to the natural gas leak.
“We had a contractor that was doing some work in the area of Alumni Hall, and he struck a gas line. And fortunately, we reacted quickly and the buildings were evacuated and everyone everybody is safe,” said Laura Jackson, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of MC.
Campus operations and Atmos responded to the scene in order to fix the leak.
Officials later announced the issue was resolved, and it was safe to return to Alumni Hall and the Baptist Healthplex.
