Madison teacher honored with Milken Educator Award

MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – A Madison teacher received the prestigious Milken Educator Award on November 6, 2025.

According to officials, Mannsdale Upper Elementary School third grade teacher Kayla Saxton also received a $25,000 cash prize.

The Milken Educator Award is bestowed upon outstanding educators across the country each year for their exceptional dedication, innovation and leadership.

“Kayla Saxton creates a classroom where curiosity thrives and every child feels valued and motivated to excel,” said Milken Educator Awards Vice President Stephanie Bishop. “Her passion, leadership and commitment to her students build confidence, compassion and a lifelong love of learning. We’re thrilled to welcome Kayla to the national Milken Educator Network!”

Saxton is the 80th recipient since Mississippi joined the Milken Educator Awards program in 1991, and she is the state’s only educator to receive the honor this school year.
