JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The City of Jackson will host several events to celebrate Juneteenth in 2022.
“There are a slate of events to take part in all across the city; from Smith Park to Farish Street to New Horizon, Jackson Convention Complex. And the list goes on and on,” said Yolanda Clay-Moore, director of communications for Visit Jackson.
The events will happen June 12-19. There will be music concerts at the Mississippi Coliseum, as well as festivals.
“Well, we wanted to bring something that, you know, can really unite people during Juneteenth weekend. You know, Juneteenth does, is really about community and bringing communities together. And we think a really dynamic concert like this is a way to really get people out and get people together and really, you know, embrace each other and embrace the weekend and Juneteenth,” said Rich Reynolds, a concert organizer.
Organizers said protocol will be in place to protect attendees to ensure a fun and safe experience.
