JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Due to reports of possible severe weather, some school districts announced closures or early dismissals for Thursday, February 16.
The following school districts will be closed:
- Lawrence County School District
The following school districts will dismiss early:
- Columbia School District – 11:30 a.m.
- Covington County School District
- 12:00 p.m. – Collins Elementary
- 12:15 p.m. – Carver Middle, Hopewell Elementary, Mt. Olive Schools, and Seminary Schools
- 12:30 p.m. – Collins High School
- East Central Community College – 12:00 p.m.
- Laurel School District
- 11:30 a.m. – Oak Park and Mason
- 11:45 a.m. – Laurel Magnet and Laurel Upper
- 12:15 p.m. – Laurel Middle
- 12:30 p.m. – Laurel High and LEC
- Smith County School District – 12:30 p.m.
- Walthall County Schools
- 11:30 a.m. – TPS
- 11:45 a.m. – TES
- 12:00 p.m. – THS, Salem and Dexter
- William Carey University – 12:00 p.m.
The following school districts will shift to virtual learning:
- Jefferson Davis County School District
- Mississippi State University – Shifts to remote operations at 12:30 p.m.
