UPDATE:
CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Clinton officials provided an update on the accident on Wednesday, September 20.
They said the two occupants of the vehicle were attempting to push the sedan off of the train tacks at the time of the accident.
According to officials, the train, headed westbound from Jackson, activated the brakes once the taillights of the vehicle were spotted.
The two male occupants of the vehicle were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
Officials said the train tracks, signals, and cross bars were all inspected after the accident, but no damage was reported.
CLINTON, Miss. (WJTV) – Clinton officials are investigating after a train and car collided on Tuesday, September 19.
The incident happened just before 8:30 p.m. at the railroad crossing on Parker Drive in Clinton.
Fire Chief Jeff Blackledge said a red four-door Toyota sedan collided with a train at the crossing. The two occupants of the vehicle were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries are unknown.
Clinton officials said the train is currently not operating until the site has been cleared. Drivers are urged to find alternate routes.
